Weaver birds are celebrated as avian “master builders” for their ability to construct intricate, hanging nests using only their beaks and feet to weave, knot, and plait materials like grass, reeds, and palm fronds. Males build these structures to attract females, often tearing down rejected nests to rebuild, and creating multiple, complex, durable homes in a single season.
