Frequently Asked Questions

Embarking on a safari in South Africa can feel daunting. Here are some valuable tips to help you prepare to visit Inyati Game Lodge in the Sabi Sand Nature Reserve.

We highly recommend bringing the following:

  • Lightweight, neutral-coloured clothing for game drives
  • A warm jacket for early morning and evening drives
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • A wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses
  • Sunscreen and insect repellent
  • Binoculars and a camera with extra batteries and memory cards
  • Personal medications and a small first-aid kit

Yes, we are in a malaria-prone area, so we advise consulting your doctor or travel clinic for appropriate antimalarial prophylactics. We are proactive in our measures to control mosquitoes within the lodge, and Peaceful Sleep, a mosquito repellent, is available in all rooms and on your game-drive vehicle.

Each season offers unique experiences:

Dry Season (May to September): The dry season is considered the best time for wildlife viewing. Vegetation thins out, and animals congregate around waterholes, making them easier to spot. Early mornings and evenings can be quite chilly, so pack warm layers for game drives, especially in June-August.

Wet Season (October to April): Summer is hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms common. This is the ‘green season’ with lush landscapes, newborn animals and ample birdwatching opportunities. Pack light, breathable clothing and sunscreen. Bring a raincoat for afternoon thunderstorms.
